For anyone wishing to attend the Climate March in London, here is the schedule:
12:00pm - Climate Emergency Rally, Speakers Corner, Hyde Park 1:00pm - Main march from Grosvenor Square (near Hyde Park) 3:00pm - Climax, encircling of Parliament 4:30pm - After Party, LSE, more details to come
Dress code: Blue!
There are other events, some as early as the Friday night before: check out the full day's schedule.
Transport from Southampton In spite of our lobbying, Flybe have yet to introduce any flights from Southampton to London City Airport. However, there are some other options:
Train - Some of us will be taking our bikes on the train, in order to join the Climate Emergency Bike Ride from Lincoln's Inn Fields to Grosvenor Square at 10:00. Unfortunately, the line is closed at Southampton Central on that weekend, so we will need to meet at Southampton Airport Parkway ticket office at 7:45, in order to pick up the 8:02 train. If there are enough of us we can buy group travel tickets on the day, which give a discount of 1/3. The group tickets are for groups of four, such groups must stick together for both journeys.
Co-op Coach - The Co-op have organised a coach to the demonstration. The coach departs at 08:00 from the Bus Stops on Above Bar St opposite the Cenotaph (SO14 7DW) and you can book online at http://www.co-operative.coop/ethicsinaction/takeaction/thewave/ The price is £5, but you need to be a member of the Cooperative (which is only £1 to join) or 6 people can go with a Cooperative member.
Commercial Coach - Alternatively, you can get tickets starting at £1 each way on coaches such as National Express, MegaBus, or Greyhounds.
There are plans for a Copenhagen solidarity demo of some kind in Southampton on 12 December. Watch this space for further info. |
